HEKS on wheels

«HEKS rollt» (HEKS on wheels) encompasses two types of bicycle projects in various municipalities of the Canton of Zurich, including Wädenswil and Thalwil. From May to October the bicycle rental scheme makes bicycles available on a daily basis against a deposit. The bicycles are rented out and serviced by unemployed persons. In the winter the participants find useful ancillary activity in charitable institutions. In the home delivery services, bicycle couriers transport purchases home by e-bikes with trailers.

Those wishing to use the home delivery service in their community announce themselves at the supplier's checkout (e.g. Migros, Coop), where they leave their purchases. Based on the delivery order (CHF 4 per delivery), the couriers bring the goods to their home within three hours or at a desired time. On the way back the couriers take-away empty bottles if the clients so request (CHF 2 per disposal).
